Diner Reviews
Not to be dramatic, but this is the best meal I’ve eaten in my entire life. We started off with the Yellowfin Wonton…could have licked the damn plate, that’s how good the poke and sauce was. I had the Swordfish in a blood orange oil and my husband had the Pork Katsu sandwich. Literally, between each bite, we would look at each other, grin, and say “this is so freaking good”. Theo, our server, was so energetic, enthusiastic and personable. The food could have been mediocre and we still would have enjoyed our time because of his service and care. We will definitely be back and telling anyone who will listen to come here. Oh, and the dessert, the Mocha Cake, decadent. 1000% done here again. Came back to edit my review to add that the owner (didn’t catch his name) stopped by and talked to us for a bit, gave us some backstory on the beginning of the restaurant and was so gracious and down to earth. Overall, such an enjoyable experience from the threshold and back. Thank you Salted Mill crew for such a fantastic evening for this mom and dad date night 🫶

If you’re in Walla Walla and haven’t stopped by Salted Mill yet, you are seriously missing out! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated. It’s the perfect blend of cozy and elevated. The food is absolutely incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell they truly care about quality ingredients and creative combinations. Every bite feels intentional and delicious. Everything tastes homemade and crafted with love. The staff is just as amazing as the food. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. They make you feel valued and taken care of, which makes the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back again and again!

This review is long overdue, but I had to shout this place out. I took my friend here for her birthday back in September and we had such a great experience. We didn’t make a reservation (bold, I know), and I thought we completely fumbled the plan. But the staff was so accommodating and seated us in the wine room — which ended up being such a hidden gem. The ambiance in there was beautiful — If you get a chance def go check it out! The food was delicious, but what truly elevated the night was the service. The staff was funny, warm, and made us feel so comfortable. It made her birthday feel special from start to finish. Highly recommend.

The Salt Mill in Walla Walla offers a dining experience that feels both approachable and thoughtfully executed. The space itself is inviting, with an open layout that allows guests to see directly into the kitchen. The brick oven anchors the room and reinforces the restaurant’s rustic, honest approach to cooking. The overall atmosphere is upbeat without being loud, and it creates a setting that is well suited for both casual meals and more intentional dining. Hospitality is a clear strength. The service was attentive and well paced, with staff who were engaged, welcoming, and consistently pleasant. There was an ease to the interaction that made the experience feel relaxed rather than scripted, and the steady presence of the wait staff ensured that nothing felt overlooked. The Drive In burger, served with house-cut fries, was a standout. The burger was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and unapologetically messy in the best way—exactly what a great burger should be. The fries were well prepared and complemented the dish without trying to compete with it. The panna cotta appetizer, served with pita bread, was an unexpected highlight. It was balanced, satisfying, and thoughtfully presented, offering a lighter yet indulgent start to the meal that set a strong tone for what followed. In addition to the food, the wine list deserves mention. It is well curated and offers solid options to pair with the menu, further elevating the overall experience. The Salt Mill is a strong addition to the Walla Walla dining scene and an easy recommendation for anyone visiting the area. It delivers quality food, genuine hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it well worth the stop.

We were in Wala Wala for two nights. On the last night we came to the Salted Mill for dinner. I wish we had gone the first, because we would have loved a second visit to this wonderful restaurant. It is a lovely restaurant with incredibly good service and outstanding food. Our waitress was so knowledgeable, friendly and just a pleasure to deal with. The duck confit arancini and ahi wontons were so unique and delicious. The 4 of us shared them. Then we split the creamy tomato bisque and bone in pork chop. Our friends split the chop salad and bone in pork chop. Everything was scrumptious and so beautifully prepared. If we didn’t live in South Florida, we would return to this very fine restaurant regularly. If you are near Wala Wala, be sure to book this must visit restaurant. You’ll be glad you did.
