Roe is beautifully designed. It’s a very cute spot but quite lively and noisy. The food is fresh and fun. The service did not start out great though but at least ended much better. I asked the hostess if it were possible to sit at the open tables on the right side. My partner has a bigger shoulder frame so I wanted our date night to be comfortable for him. We also had reservations. I was told no—as they are reserved for larger parties and will be for a larger party. She gave us two options. We could sit in a small table in a small space in the middle between two parties or at the kitchen high top counter. I totally understand that and would have been fine but their statement was inconsistent with their actions. Shortly after a couple came in, they seated them where I requested. After that another couple was seated in that same area. All different parties. So if you can imagine I wasn’t elated with the inconsistent statement. I asked my server if they could move me so I could at least be closer to my luggage as it was stored by that area. He made it happen and honestly that made a difference and made the experience much better. There was more open space for my partner to sit comfortably. I really appreciate our server making an effort. I could tell the hostess looked surprised after I was seated at that section but appreciated that she was professional in our interactions. My feedback is to be consistent and transparent with a feedback loop if needed. That would be appreciated. Anyway some favorite dishes were the gnocchi, oyster with mignonette, and fries. The nuggets with caviar were interesting. We weren’t a fan of the baby cakes or the butternut squash dish. Drinks were solid. We did still get a gift card to give as a gift since the space is pretty and the food was fresh. I think I would come back but not in the restaurant area and probably only at the bar lounge section.

The food is incredible. Our favorite was the heirloom melons and chicken fried rabbit. Don’t skip out on the starters, they were on par with the entrees! We were celebrating our anniversary, unfortunately our reserved seats at the chefs table were not accommodated (for the second time) but the staff was so kind and comped our first round of drinks. The main room is beautiful but definitely noisy, I think the bar seating is our preference for a more intimate experience.

Absolutely loved our meal at Roe. The king salmon was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, and the Parisian gnocchi was light, pillowy, and incredibly well done. We also ordered the chicken fried rabbit, and the chopped steak and fries. Consistently one of the best dining experiences in Bellingham—highly recommend.

Solid spot in an old industrial building serving local fare. Salmon on toast and black cod are great, the chef also is very create with chicken nuggets and caviar. Service was a bit slow, but pleasant atmosphere and good food made it worthwhile.

the atmosphere was very nice and we had made a reservation, so we got seated pretty quickly. Overall, food and drinks came out in a timely manner and everything was rlly good. We got the focaccia, butter lettuce, roe burger, and the mafaldine pasta. The service though, was disappointing. We got drinks orders asked quickly and food order in quickly. Though, never once the whole night did anyone ask how the food was or if we needed anything, which to us was odd as people who have worked in the food industry and have eaten out a lot. We asked for ketchup for the burger at one point and the waitress forgot. The person I was with had to get up and find her in order to get some. The biggest frustration though was the drink. My bf ordered an cocktail (he is of age) and the waitress didn't id him and gave him a n/a drink based on a personal assumption that he was below the age of 21 rather than clarifying. When we asked her about it when we got the check she kinda didn’t know what to say as if she knew she just assumed our ages and didn’t want to admit it. We ended up paying $13 for a n/a drink that was supposed to have alcohol when they were the same price. So, we got charged full price for the wrong drink due to a mistake on the waitress’s part.
