I've lived in the area for quite some time now (28 years to be exact), and I've never actually been to the Big Four ice caves until now. I've been to the parking lot several times, and I've walked the first few hundred yards of the trail. But I've never been to the actual ice caves. I just took my two youngest kids for their first time also. From the parking lot, the view is beautiful. But the true beauty comes at the end of the trail. I can't believe I've never been there until now! My kids had such an amazing time, and the hike was easily made on the well maintained trail. My two kids (12 and 14) had no problem making the trek to the top of the trail. I would definitely recommend this hike to others.

The Big Four Ice Caves Trailhead is the starting point for one of Washington’s most unique and easy hikes. The path is well-maintained, flat, and family-friendly, leading through forest and wetlands before opening up to incredible views of Big Four Mountain and the famous ice caves. Parking is available but can fill up quickly on weekends, so arriving early is best. ⚠️ Important: never enter the caves—they are unstable and extremely dangerous—but they’re amazing to view safely from the trail. A beautiful, accessible hike that showcases Washington’s wild scenery without being too challenging.

A nice chill for a day trip of a family in great Seattle area. The trail is kids friendly but provide enough exercise for the day. And the ice cave at the end of the trail is really rewarding. Pictures taken in summer 2024.

In the middle of Mount Baker, What a beautiful nature walk. Very easy for all age groups. We got kids age 3 - grand parents age 70. Everyone enjoyed the hike. The ice cave view was stunning. So beautiful. Very natural, the young adults team did a second hike to the bigger cave. There is a water access place (from the mountains, very refreshing, clean and pure) on the way to ice caves, Everyone enjoyed it. Great place to visit. Family friendly. Ample parking and picnic area. BYOF (Bring Your Own Food). Ample Parking spots, there is a $5 fee(self pay) for the park.

This is the main parking lot for Big Four Ice Caves but parking in the picnic area is a better option if it isn't full. My wife and I walk this trail multiple times a year. The caves are always changing from year to year and month to month. The hike is easy and enjoyable for all.
