Artist Point is absolutely beautiful. You can see ice field and many mountain ridges. The rocks on the mountain have different colors, which makes the scenery even prettier. The forecast said it would be rainy and foggy today, but the blue sky and sunshine made it even more stunning. There are many trails, so you can easily find one that suits you.

One of the most beautiful hikes with the best views! A lovely hike with so much to see. Gorgeous terrain and one of my favorite drives from Bellingham. Also, fairly kid friendly, my young kiddos did great! And had so much fun! Gorgeous spot.

Total hike was about 4.3 miles with roughly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Given the effort involved—especially the long drive, with sections of icy and potentially dangerous road—I’m honestly not sure this trip was fully worth it on this particular day. The mountain views are beautiful, but the snow wasn’t fresh and was mostly hard-packed and frozen, so I ended up hiking all the way to Huntoon Point without snowshoes or spikes. On the way down, however, spikes were helpful, as some snowy sections were quite slippery. That said, I did eventually make it to Artist Point, and the scenery is undeniably impressive. I can imagine this route being far more rewarding after a fresh snowfall or under better snow conditions. Tip: Check recent snow conditions carefully before committing to the drive, and be prepared for icy road access in winter.

Paved road to the parking area, but the parking lot fills up quickly on the weekends. Choice of two main trails: chain lakes loop or ptarmigan ridge which is an out and back. The ridge trail is best saved for late summer / fall as there can be significant snow on the trail earlier in the season.

It was so beautiful! The greenery, the views all perfect! This was an easier hike, but was still super fun. Highly recommend doing this hike, then chain lakes afterward. We did the Huntoon Point bus Artist Point (50 min)
