It had rained yesterday and the trail was moist but not muddy. It was cool under the trees. Lots of butterflies over the blooming flowers. My younger companions compared the forest with a castle, because of the tall big trees and the shades. It is magical. Definitely bring bug spray. Lots of mosquitoes.

Gorgeous forest, worth the visit. Amazing hikes and views. Great drive through with scenic turnouts if your not able to physically hike. Personal favorite home of mine is Sourdough Gap. Takes you to Sheep Lake, and if you continue the hike you end up in My Rainier National Forest and can see Mt Rainier and Crystal Lake.

Absolutely beautiful. Loved every minute. Except the fact there being thousands of people up here. You pretty much pick one hike and call it a day. There will be no parking otherwise. And if you do find a park, your adding 2-5 miles extra to your hike. No lie, there is MILES of cars on both sides of the highway. Did the Blue Lake hike. There is a restroom here. Bring extra TP in your pack. There may or may not be TP in the restroom. There was when I got there. Probably 11 rolls. When I came down the mountain and was using it to leave. There was none. Glad I have some in my pack. Dogs are welcome. Seen SO many. Was awesome seeing all the happy doggos on the trail. There is also a few picnic tables at the trailhead. Remember to pack out what you pack in.
