You could argue that there are year-round wonders to discover on this highway. You will find that the Summer and Fall months are the obvious best choice to drive here. Birdwatching, Waterfall finding, fishing, cozy diners, sunsets against the mountains, hiking, much to do here. The winter months create slick/impassible conditions further up towards Mt Baker if you don't have a tough vehicle. Check out Nooksack Falls or go Eagle-watching along the river during Feb-March.

Pretty Amazing area with lots of creeks and large streams which look like rivers to me and so very many beautiful trees & there is a ski resort at the top of the road. Lots of traffic driving up and down because it was very hot yesterday in the valley and it seems everyone was seeking the shade areas for hiking. It's about *20 degrees cooler up there
