The Palace Hotel feels super good as soon as you step inside- feels historic and full of story, without feeling old, dank, or tired. The whole place looks and feels loved and honored, beautifully cared for while still being comfortable, relaxed, and quietly cool. Old brick, tall windows, vintage details, and so many inviting spaces to sit, read, or just slow down. It feels lived-in in the best way. Our room had a beautiful water view and everything we needed. Comfortable, peaceful, and a great value for the location. Jean Marie at the front desk is wonderful, warm, thorough, and full of great local tips and insight. She made the stay feel easy from the start. Historic character, modern comforts, and a true Port Townsend feel. We’ll definitely be back. Fun fact: The Palace Hotel was built in 1889 by a sea captain and later spent time as a tavern, boarding house, and even a brothel known as the “Palace of Sweets.” Today the rooms are named after the women who once lived and worked here. And if you’re into local lore… it’s also considered one of the more haunted spots in Port Townsend, with stories of the “Lady in Blue” and a few other long-term residents who may have never checked out.

Check in was quick and easy. The building is an old 1800’s downtown mix of industrial and antique. Check in was quick and easy on Sunday. Hauling upstairs was a bit difficult—no elevator. The room (20) was nice and clean with somewhat of a view of the water over the building across the street. We enjoyed the Betta Bar across the street. The food was delicious and service was great. The first night was good, but the second night they put people with young kids above us. I called twice to have them stop letting the kids run from one end of the room to the other. They wanted to move us to another room instead of them. They settled down around 9:30. We paid nearly $200 per night. A bit high but you are paying for the experience I suppose. Overall I would recommend this hotel but not for elderly or disabled.

We stayed two nights, and it was really nice. Yes, it's old and yes, there are a lot of stairs but it suited us just fine. It was quiet, absolutely perfect location for walkability around town and the staff were all very nice. Also a nice touch was a charging station in the room. Also having the free parking for hotel guests only behind the hotel was a big bonus.

I loved staying here! I didn’t take any other pictures other than of the door after I taught my partner how to spell aubergine lol It was interesting how the hotel was laid out! Felt like an intriguing labyrinth as I walked up and down staircases. I’ll stay here the next time I have to stay in PT overnight.

Fantastically whimsical place with so much to see in the expansive common areas. If I was still a kid, I would've been playing hide and seek with my brother the whole trip. Wasn't a problem for me (I'm 5' 10"), but anyone taller will be crouching in the shower to fit under the unadjustable showerheads (assuming they're the same in each suite). They're old-timey and made for a generation of shorter people.
