What an absolutely wonderful theater experience! We enjoyed several summers of Key City's Shakespeare in the Park performances in the past but didn't know they actually had their own theater until we looked down from our hotel balcony and saw their stage door next door. And we were lucky enough to find out just in time that they were doing a modern and very funny adaptation of the Christmas Carole. (My mother was taking a swim class at the Y and said one of the actors was there and was singing in the pool and someone else mentioned that this performance was going on.) I must admit that although I support theater, I rarely can sit through a performance. But this one was excellent and even though 90 minutes straight through (which I actually prefer to performances with intermissions), it was so well performed and so humorous that I genuinely enjoyed myself. (My wife and I give to our local theater regularly and have even served on the board of directors and helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the theater.) From the box office staff to the way they used the entire theater to the intertwining of local references into the humor of the play, it was wonderful from beginning to end. And there was even some audience participation for those who wanted to, without it ever feeling obligatory or uncomfortable. And being Christmas time, the end of the play audience Christmas carol sing-along was the icing on the cake. These are true professionals. And for what it is worth, even as periodic visitors we recognized several of the local business sponsors and will be sure to patronize those establishments because we appreciate their support of the theater. (For those of you that do the same, make sure to mention to the business that you appreciate their support of the theater. It's important for them to keep that we value businesses that give back to their community.) We will definitely check out their schedule before our next visits to Port Townsend so we can hopefully enjoy more great acting/performances/shows in the future.

I saw The Enemy of the People here this past weekend. The show was great, and the actors stayed for a discussion afterwards. I really enjoyed the homey feel of the theater. Everyone was kind. I couldn't afford to spend the $5 charge needed for debit cards for coffee, but the staff were nice enough to give me a free cup. I would highly recommend seeing a show here.

Humble yet lovely theatre that had beverages and snacks available for purchase. The performance, "A Wolf at the Door" made it's world debut there and the perfromers absolutely nailed it. Would highly recommend watching a show here any chance you get.

Went to see “Always Patsy” at the Key City Public Theatre. In a word FABULOUS! Director Denise Winter, squeezed Ted Swindley’s production into Port Townsend’s intimate little theater in the North end of town. It was Standing Room Only audience for reopening event for the theatre. Aba Kinser’s portrayal of Patsy Cline is outstanding. She has an amazing voice and it was easy to imagine that Patsy, herself, was on the stage. Michelle Hensel plays the part of Louise, Patsy’s undying fan and sidekick. Linda Dowdell’s band provides the music the makes it all come together with renditions of “Walking after midnight” , and, of course “Crazy” Really great entertainment, really well performed. Go see it while you can Ian Mcfall. Author, Independent Google Reviewer.
