Yakima Valley Trolleys

We had a great time. This was one of the reasons that we literally drove from Olympia to Yakima for. Yeah, it's an old trolley that's run down as to be expected based on its age, but it runs, and these volunteers do a great job of keeping it moving, making a fun and interesting ride, honestly, it was probably one of my favorite historic/museum type experiences in quite some time and my son loved it too. I'm actually bringing my other son in a few weeks.

We pulled into the parking lot and wondered why there were no cars present. There was a sign on the door that said they were closed, even though everything we read about the place (and the Visitor Information Center) said they should be open. We were very disappointed. As we were backing out of the parking spot, a man came out of the building and explained they were having some utility issues and the museum was technically closed, and none of the electric cars were running. However, if we wanted to take a tour of the museum, he was more than happy to accommodate us. He was the perfect tour guide and knew everything about the electrical railway in Yakima. We saw all of the equipment in the main part of the museum and then he took us into the car barn where all of the railway cars were housed and maintained. It was very interesting to learn about the history of the electric railway in Yakima and to be able to walk through history. We are hoping to go back when the museum is totally open and operating normally.

This is an important piece of history and is soo much fun!! They have trolley rides that are fun for all ages and Halloween and christmas themed rides. One of the last in all of the usa. Save the trolleys!

Guys there are so awesome, all volunteers crew, great sense of humor, very knowledgeable and friendly, they are trying to save this piece of American 🇺🇸 history. I sincerely appreciate their efforts and hope our next generation would be able to see and actually ride in Yakima Valley Trolleys. 🚎
