I popped into Waypoint Park late afternoon and liked how compact and lively the waterfront feels — a short paved loop, a kid-friendly natural playground, an overwater pier for sunsets, and a quirky illuminated industrial sculpture that draws attention at night; it’s an easy spot to start a waterfront stroll or sit and watch boats go by. Bring a light jacket for the bay breeze, wear comfortable shoes if you plan to explore the nearby pump track and container village, and arrive early on weekends for easier parking. The park feels thoughtfully planted and family-friendly without being overwhelming.

Waypoint Park is a relatively new addition to the downtown Bellingham core but for a small park it has had a big positive impact on the community! Easy access to the water makes it a great place for launching kayaks and paddle boarding. There are green spaces to lounge by the water, and a play area for kiddos. Check out the shops and good-eats available in the renovated Granary building, and the can’t-miss iconic Acid Ball sculpture. There’s also lots of parking available. The pump track is right across the street for those who enjoy bike sports, and the Trackside (all ages) Beer Garden is conveniently nearby to stop for a drink or grab a delicious bite! Con: As a newer park there is very little shade available, in the midst of summer this park may be a bit much for sun/heat sensitive folx.

Interesting park on Bellingham's waterfront with salmon jumping out of the nearby Whatcom Waterway, Lummi Island was visible in the distance. The Acid Ball is a super cool industrial relic originally used in wood pulp processing. Great outdoor concert venue here and mini golf.

Bring your bike! It has a pump park for all ages. Updated -Now you can get beer here too and food. Not sure if me or my kids have more fun. Can we get whiskey next? That is why we wear helmets, right?
